What is your Privacy Policy? back to top
No information you share with ICA is distributed to third parties for any non-necessary business functions. Obviously we have to give your information to the payroll processing firm, taxing authorities, the client, but we do not distribute your information otherwise.
Please, by all means, use a blind, one-off email address when initially corresponding with us. It won't hurt our feelings, and we will reply just the same.
Why is there only an email address as a contact mechanism? back to top
The limited contact information is intentional and provides two main benefits to ICA:
- Limiting unsolicited commercial communications (junk mail and sales calls).
- Filtering out non-serious and in-experienced consultant inquiries.
We also apologize that the mailto: links have been modified to require manual addition of our domain name. Unfortunately robotic spam harvesters are a fact of life.
ICA.xls is nice, but is there a way to get "real" net Salary data? back to top
Yes! We can provide you with an estimated monthly Salary spreadsheet if you provide:
- Gross client bill rate.
- Location of client for per diem calculation.
-
Estimated hours worked per month for the next 6 to 12 months.
(or send the last 18 months of hours billed for Net Income comparison.) - Current health insurance costs (or we can make a swag given your age, family status, and smoking habits)
- 401(k) deduction desired (max allowed is $6,000 per year or $500 per month)
- Estimated monthly expenses (cell phone, office supplies, postage, travel, etc.)
I'm an Independent, how much control do I have over contract negotiations? back to top
While ICA does do the corp. to corp. client negotiation, no document is signed without the consultant's written approval. Per consultant's desire, the client may or may not be made party to the consultant's role in contract negotiations and the consultant will sign a non-disclosure prior to negotiations.
(Quite frankly some of this is just extra paperwork, as if your actions, or information you disclosure, injures or annoys the client your expected employment at a client is probably limited. mb..)
ICA does expect the consultant to have a firm offer from the hiring manager, which generally includes an already agreed upon client bill rate.
ICA seems to be a low percentage firm, so who does ICA usually employ? back to top
ICA does expect the consultant to be knowledgeable, experienced and professional. ICA expects consultants to know what per diem, travel expenses, seminar fees, education expenses, and other types of expenses are, and when they are, or are not, allowable for expense reporting.
In general the consultant probably has ten or more years in their field, probably already uses a CPA, and usually has other revenue streams besides consulting. Some consultants funnel all of their revenue streams through ICA, some don't.

Yes this website is plain, simple, and entirely text based. To make it slick, flashy, and hip just costs money, money that would come from the consultant's, i.e. your, paycheck.
